The intergalactic scumdogs return! GWAR, the legendary shock rock band from Richmond, Virginia, unleashes their "Gor Gor Strikes Back" tour across the United States in spring 2026. This 34-date rampage features Soulfly as direct support and Australian grindcore icons King Parrot opening every night. The carnage kicks off March 19, 2026 in GWAR's adopted hometown of Richmond, VA and rampages through April 29, 2026 in Charlotte, NC.
As lead vocalist Blöthar The Berserker promises: this tour will be "a ritual orgy of death, sex, violence and rock and roll!" Armed with fresh atrocities, new victims, and the unstoppable might of Gor-Gor himself, GWAR delivers their most crushing live spectacle yet. Follow GWAR on Instagram and X (Twitter).
GWAR is a satirical heavy metal/shock rock band formed in 1984 in Richmond, Virginia – now celebrating over 40 years of intergalactic mayhem. The band is renowned for elaborate sci-fi/horror costumes, outrageous theatrical performances, and dousing audiences with fake blood and other "fluids." Their mythology portrays them as alien warriors banished to Antarctica, freed by the hole in the ozone layer to conquer Earth through rock music. With 15 studio albums and countless memorable live shows, GWAR remains the undisputed overlords of shock rock.
Soulfly brings their signature tribal metal fury as direct support. Fronted by thrash metal legend Max Cavalera (co-founder of Sepultura), Soulfly blends aggressive metal with world music influences and indigenous Brazilian rhythms. Cavalera says of the tour: "I can't wait for Soulfly to storm the gates with GWAR! I've been a fan of GWAR for a long time. It will be an honor to support them!"
King Parrot opens every show with their unhinged Australian grindcore assault. Known for chaotic live performances and irreverent humor, these Melbourne thrash punks are the perfect appetizer before the main course of carnage.
GWAR shows sell out fast – especially in their hometown of Richmond. Our verified ticket marketplace offers competitive all-in pricing with no hidden fees, tickets across all venues on the tour, and secure transactions with buyer protection. Don't get left behind while GWAR parties in the stars!

The release includes a 32-page comic detailing Gor-Gor's return, with special vinyl editions featuring animated etchings of the mighty dinosaur himself.

Almost certainly yes! GWAR is famous for dousing audiences with fake blood and other theatrical fluids. The "blood" is water-based dye that washes out easily, but wearing white or clothes you care about is not recommended. Many fans wear white specifically to collect "battle scars."
The current lead vocalist is Blöthar The Berserker, portrayed by Mike Bishop (who originally played Beefcake the Mighty on bass). Bishop took over vocal duties after the death of original frontman Dave Brockie (Oderus Urungus) in March 2014.
Dave Brockie, who portrayed Oderus Urungus and was the last remaining original member of GWAR, passed away in March 2014 at age 50. After a period of mourning, the band continued with Mike Bishop taking over as lead vocalist under the character Blöthar The Berserker.
GWAR was formed in 1984 in Richmond, Virginia, making them over 40 years old. The band began as a collaboration between Hunter Jackson and Dave Brockie, originally creating costumes for a movie called "Scumdogs of the Universe" before becoming a full-time performing band.
Gor-Gor is GWAR's giant tyrannosaurus rex monster, a staple of their elaborate stage shows. According to GWAR mythology, Gor-Gor is an ancient beast who serves the band. The "Gor Gor Strikes Back" tour and "The Return of Gor Gor" release celebrate this iconic character.
GWAR shows feature mature themes, graphic simulated violence, crude humor, and explicit language. While the violence is clearly theatrical and satirical, parents should use discretion. Most venues are 18+ or have age restrictions for GWAR performances.
Wear clothes and shoes you do not mind getting wet and stained. Many fans wear white t-shirts to show off the fake blood spray as a badge of honor. Avoid expensive clothing, open-toed shoes, or anything you want to keep clean. Some fans bring ponchos or rain gear.
GWAR has released 15 studio albums over their 40+ year career, starting with Hell-O in 1988. Notable albums include Scumdogs of the Universe (1990), America Must Be Destroyed (1992), and their latest release The Return of Gor Gor (2024).
GWAR was formed in Richmond, Virginia in 1984 and considers Richmond their adopted hometown. The tour appropriately begins in Richmond at The National on March 19, 2026.
Resale marketplaces offer access to tickets even after official sellouts, competitive pricing from verified sellers, transparent all-in pricing with no hidden fees, and buyer protection guarantees on every purchase. GWAR shows frequently sell out, especially in smaller venues.
